Bluebird Network joins iFiber Service Provider Partners

Michael C. Morey is Bluebird Network’s President and Chief Executive Officer.

October 2020 – Bluebird Network, an Internet, transport and data center services provider, has joined the impressive list of iFiber Service Provider Partners.

Headquartered in Columbia, MO, Bluebird Network has provided high capacity fiber and communication infrastructure services to carriers and enterprises throughout Missouri, Illinois and surrounding states since 1999.

Through several acquisitions, Bluebird has grown to be one of the most reliable fiber networks in the Midwest—serving both densely populated urban areas and under-served rural communities.

Always focused on growth, Bluebird boasts more than 9,800 fiber route miles of high-speed broadband and fiber-optic connections, 54,000 on-net and near-net buildings, and 151 Points of Presence (PoP) sites across the Midwest.

Todd Murren is the general manager of the Bluebird Underground. He recently oversaw an $11 million expansion to Bluebird’s flagship data center.

As a valued iFiber Service Provider Partner, Bluebird Network offers iFiber customers a wide range of technology services. With network solutions ranging from dedicated Internet, ethernet, wavelengths and dark fiber, Bluebird engineers are prepared to craft a solution for even the most unique situations.

In 2014, Bluebird acquired an underground data center and created the Bluebird Underground Data Center, adding a data center facility to the Bluebird suite of services. Located 85-feet below ground, this world-class facility is one of the most secure data centers in the country.

In 2019, Bluebird Network acquired PEG Bandwidth, IL, once again strengthening its network.

“Through this acquisition, Bluebird increased its fiber footprint even further, providing greater access to existing customers and reaching out to new service areas, including extending its network within Illinois, and into Iowa and Indiana,” said Michael C. Morey, President & Chief Executive Officer since 2012.

Bluebird Network serves the following counties in iFiber’s region: Boone, Carroll, Jo Daviess, LaSalle, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago.

Underground, Bluebird houses 6MW of off-the-grid power supply. This underground data center facility can supply its own power indefinitely.

“By leveraging its network, resources, and innovative employees, Bluebird develops solutions that deliver broadband opportunities across the Midwest. We have over 151 Points of Presence, including the major cities of ChicagoSpringfield (MO and IL), St. LouisKansas CityColumbiaTulsa, Peoria, Rockford, Bloomington, Normal and the Quad Cities,” said Morey.

Bluebird’s employees are as unique as its fiber, Morey said. “They make our organization what it is. At Bluebird, we deliver world-class services to our enterprise, carrier and data center customers.”
